GURPS is, appropriately, 23% off for Gen Con.

23% because fnord.  However, I don’t think that that includes the print on demand stuff, but I can wholeheartedly recommend GURPS Vorkosigan Saga, even if you don’t play RPGs.  It’s got a lot of information about Lois McMaster Bujold’s universe in it, all nicely organized and laid out.  …You do read Bujold, I hope? I’d hate to think that any of my readers might be missing out on one of the best science fiction / fantasy writers I can think off offhand.

The Ogrezine! Kickstarter.

The exclamation point there was added by me. For some reason, Ogrezine! looks more dynamic than Ogrezine. Anyway, this Kickstarter from Steve Jackson Games is designed to fund/test out how much interest there is in Ogre ‘stuff.’ Three bucks gets you the articles, and everything else is moving the minis:

@SJGames Ogre video game still on track for October 2017 release.

At least, that’s what the email I just got on the subject has informed me.  Not much more detail here, but based on the year-old rendering video below the game concept isn’t that complicated. If it’s turn- and hex-based, putting it together should actually be a snap.

Which is fine, by the way.  I don’t know if I can really enjoy a real-time multi-unit tactical combat game with overkill graphics.  I’m pretty sure that I can enjoy this.  Although, alas, it was not actually a Kickstarter stretch goal…

Tweet of the Day, @SJGames Should Use This For Ogrethulhu edition.

It’s not entirely dissimilar in layout to the classic silhouette of an OGRE.  Which makes sense. As I noted on Twitter, this picture is insanely evocative of Gary Larson’s classic cartoon How nature says “Do not touch.” It’s like they had a contest.

UPDATE: My wife says It’s like Scooby-Doo meets Mad Max.  …I married well.

Steve Jackson Games doing more with Amazon Createspace.

Basically, Amazon Createspace allows companies like Steve Jackson Games to release titles (in this case, GURPS titles) for softcover print-on-demand. They’ve already tried this with three existing titles: now SJG is going to try three more. If there’s enough demand, SJG will start assigning staff to convert more titles. There’s the faintest possibility of a suggestion of a hint that ‘even older titles’ might be made available, which could mean 3rd edition GURPS, or – dare I hope it? – In Nomine.

Tweet of the Day, @Arbys Has A Credibly Geekish Social Media Wing edition.

This is remarkably well-played. Shoot, Arby’s social media people apparently even have a small budget. Or at least somebody good at cutting up cardboard.

Mega digital sale on In Nomine products at Warehouse 23.

If you’ve found my fan In Nomine stuff of interest and would like to know more about the game itself, well, Steve Jackson Games has put their entire e-line on mega sale for the next two weeks.

For those who might find this of interest: I have playtest credit on a bunch of these, was the Lead Playtester for the Ethereal Player’s Guide, and have an additional Materials credit in Liber Umbrarum. …Hey, literary immortality is where you find it. Anyway, check it out.
