Just watched Episode 1 of MOON KNIGHT.

…Yeah, Marvel’s MOON KNIGHT looks pretty messed up. I mean this in a complimentary way; it’s the kind of you-never-know-what-will-happen-next messed up that makes for engrossing television. Pure Hell on the hero, though.

Also: the show is mercifully avoiding trying to make us wonder whether this is all going on in the guy’s mind. I used to sleepwalk, myself. But in all the times I did, I never woke up in… ah, never mind. Spoilers.

Charlie Cox decides to be in favor of Disney-Marvel giving him lots of money for DAREDEVIL.

I know, I know. You’re shocked, too: “When Netflix’s Daredevil series premiered in 2015, it presented a much darker and more grounded version of the character. In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, actor Charlie Cox said he doesn’t think a new series would have to retain that same mature tone.” …Which is good, because if he wants to star in a hypothetical Daredevil show that’s on Disney+ and not Hulu… well, there are gonna be expectations.

I’m not actually upset about this. I have adolescent kids now, you know? I’m reasonably certain that when I turn on Disney+ to watch some MCU stuff with the kids there won’t be anything too embarrassing on*. I kind of treasure the certainty, really.

*And if they want something less tame, they can learn to sneak downstairs in the middle of the night, just like I did at their age. Only with an infinitely better selection of stuff to watch. These kids today! They just don’t know how good they got it…

Just watched the first episode of HAWKEYE (It’s good!).

No, really. I was worried that Kate Bishop would be this already perfect superheroine in every possible way, Clint Barton would be this washed-up old guy who nobody remembers, and him ‘helping’ her would be the only way he could rekindle his heroism. That is… pretty much not what is happening, so far*. Instead, we’re getting a fairly demented, but so far entertaining, Christmas story. I am down for this.

The Demented HAWKEYE Christmas Disney+ trailer.

My attention… has been acquired.

GeekTyrant detected a Die Hard vibe: I can see that, but there’s also a Lethal Weapon theme going on here, because Hawkeye is visibly deciding that he’s getting Too Old For This Sh*t. I also give points for there being a Broadway musical about Captain America in the MCU, because of course there would be one. They missed a bet there, though, in not getting Chris Evans to play the actor playing Cap in the musical. Farce is its own justification.

PS: Kate Bishop apparently isn’t coming into this already being perfect in every way, which is nice. “Cocky 22 year old hotshot who still needs seasoning” is a perfectly cromulent archetype for a superheroine.

I did catch the leaked SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME trailer…

…before they yoinked that sucker. It definitely looks real, if extremely unfinished*. Dr. Strange, Peter Parker being upset about how everybody knows who he is now, the two collide — the dialogue is not from previous movies, and neither were the scenes that I saw. My children have already shown an interest in a Spider-Man marathon this week; which is good, because we were going to have one anyway…

*Which may be why they haven’t released a trailer yet. The CGI didn’t look finished. Mind you, the video quality was uber-crappy.
