The “…Wait. Where’s the war?” THE CAINE MUTINY COURT MARTIAL trailer.

Seriously, where is the war?

Both the movie and the book exist in the context of World War II, and the stresses that it provoked in American naval personnel. Queeg has a legitimate reason to be erratic, in both cases: ‘American naval officer’ was a highly dangerous and toll-taking job in the 1940s. I’m not really sure that a peacetime story can work, in this context.

Guess we’ll see.

Tweet of the Day, Did We Ever Get An Answer To This? edition.

Because it was a legitimate question, back in 2007.

Prepare yourself for GHOSTS ON AN ALIEN WIND by buying COVENANTS!

COVENANTS: FOUR TALES OF AGREEMENTS has a story set in the same science fiction / horror universe (“Tour of Duty”) as my upcoming novel GHOSTS ON AN ALIEN WIND. Also check out “Notes from the 2078 United Nations Antarctic Archaeological Survey” on Kindle Vella. Between the two, you should be able to get a feel for the world of the novel. Also, I get money. Win-win!

We’re getting hit with a tropical storm Saturday. Sorta.

It’s going to be a lot more of an Eastern Shore problem than an inland Maryland problem. That being said, they’ve already canceled the SCA event my wife was going to attend, and we’re gonna get wind and rain. Will there be a power failure? Very possibly! Will it get fixed right away? I guess we’ll see!

At any rate: if you live on the Eastern Seaboard, please avoid mucking about with small boats this weekend. Thanks.

Move CYBERPUNK 2077 to your SSDs.

If you don’t have a SSD… well. That day is finally here, apparently:

The day of the HDD is ending, at least for gaming. I’d call it bloat, but it’s the way of the world. You can only spin things so fast. The good news is, the You Have Got To Be Kidding Me price point is somewhere around 4 TB these days: 2 TB drives are fairly reasonable. Now’s your time to upgrade!
